Bacharach
Bacharach is a small town along the Rhine River in the Rheinland-Pfalz region of Germany. The following pictures were taken in July 2007:

Bacharach was once a booming trade center on the Rhine River. Wine created the largest profit for the region. The city's power decreased dramatically following the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648).

Bacharach is situated 48 kilometers (30 miles) south of Koblenz.

The Church of St. Peter was constructed in 1194 and is the largest church in Bacharach. It is now an Evangelical church and open to the public.

Constructed in 1368, the Altes Haus is the oldest house in Bacharach.


Burg Stahleck (Stahleck Castle) was first constructed in the 12th century. It now serves as a youth hostel.
