Burg Nanstein
Burg Nanstein is a fortress located above the city of Landstuhl in Rheinland-Pfalz. These photos were taken in July 2007:

Burg Nanstein was first documented in 1189, but it is thought to be created in 1162.
The first known ruler to name himself after the fortress is Albert von Nanstein in 1190.
The decline of the feudal system in Rheinland-Pfalz is often marked with the siege of Burg Nanstein and its ruler, Franz von Sickingen, in 1523.
In 1668, the fortress was damaged considerably when the Lothringers were forced from the area.
It was damaged even further by the French in 1689.
